Buddhism, Hinduism, Spirituality

buddhaBirthplace of some of the world’s oldest religions, spirituality in Asia ranges from shamanism and ancestor worship, to nature-based philosophies, to highly organized sects like Zen, Nichiren, Pure Land and Tibetan Buddhism. Buddhism, which originated in India but has had a greater presence and development in East and Southeast Asia, is perhaps what most Westerners associate with Asian religion. Hinduism is as strong in India as it ever was, and Shinto coexists with Buddhism in the Japanese consciousness without conflict. Christianity, originally brought to China via missionaries some five centuries ago, has had a particularly strong influence in Korea.
